Welcome to 2012 and to another year of exciting dramatic happenings. Classes started on Monday - and the timetable is still being juggled around slightly - but am sure that we will be in the swing of things by the end of next week. 2011 was an awesome year and a very busy one. Pemads Plays by our Seniors at Pemads in the first part of the year. "The WInd in the Willows" for Clarendon, "Master Harold and the Boys" and "Commedia dell Arte" for the National Arts Festival, "The Wizard of Oz" for our annual studio production, and the pantomime "Jack and the Beantstalk" for Pemads which involved mainly Rother Swain pupils. This was apart from the Pearson end of year production and various Community Theatre projects - and then of course TRINITY EXAMINATIONS. Very happy to report excellent results there. Our matrics of last year who do subject drama all passed with A's and "Jack and the Beanstalk" won Production of the Year (Phyllis Davidson Trophy) at the Pemads awards as well as numerous acting awards. We still have the Showtime awards ahead, so will keep you updated about happenings there.
Our big focus this year is on our production. This will take place at the Port Elizabeth Opera House ( booked theatre from 3 - 15 September - Performance times to follow) and our production will be CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Auditions will take place at the end of the second term, with rehearsals commencing at the very start of Term 3. Trinity Examinations will be held in October/November and there will be another Isithatha Festival (still to be scheduled) - so watch this space!
The timetable is on the newsletters page. It has been slightly amended so check the times.
Wishing you all an awesome 2012. I just know that it is going t
