The busy term has now begun! Rehearsals for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" commence on Saturday and we have a big cast with three teams of leads. This was cast as such to ensure that all our learners get an opportunity to develop their skills and grow. We are looking forward to the challenge. There is great excitement and we have the most amazing bunch of parents in the studio, ensuring that our jobs are made so much easier. We have had a record number of offers of help from photocopying to set construction. Thank you so much for being involved with your children. This makes it such a team effort - and a production of this nature cannot be done without this support.
We have had an exciting year to date. Charlotte Huisamen and Micaela Oosthuizen both represented South Africa at the prestigious drama championships in the USA, and fared exceptionally well, winning several categories, receiving contracts, as well as opportunities to audition on Broadway etc.. . We look forward to watching their careers with interest as they both follow their dreams.
The Pearson learners were involved in a Shakespearean Festival at Pearson at the end of last term. Several learners have been involved in Community Theatre projects. James van der Merwe is currently playing the title role in "Fiela's Child" on at the Savoy Theatre until Saturday 28th July. Bookings through Computicket.
Ex-pupil : Katy Hillhouse, together with Rebecca Wood and several other performers from the PE area will perform "Screaming Petunias" at the Pemads Little Theatre this Saturday evening 21st July, as a youth DA project. Katy is currently studying in Cape Town, and Rebecca is about to wing her way to Guildford, outside London, to study at the prestigious Guildford School of the Performance Arts.
